RE: Web Page Help

I decided to just use a form template from my host to use for contacts and referrals and use hyperlinks to navigate to and from there. . Not sure how well this will work but it's functional at least. I still hope to learn what I was missing in Publisher. I'll probably keep my eyes open for another web publishing program down the road at some point. Thanks for the suggestions. Steve

Thanks for the comments and suggestions dh. My host offers a place to make a sight from templates but I just found that I was more confortable with the flexibility of working in publisher. I am gong to check out dreamweaver though.

MS Publisher doesn't create true HTML files.  It creates Microsoft VML files which render well in most browsers.  Since the files are not HTML, not all functions are supported by all browers - Firefox, Safari, Opera, and others, including MS Internet Explorer 7 and later, do not support all functions of VML.  Unfortunately, there is no good way to convert your VML files to true HTML for compatibility across multiple browsers.  Speaking from experience, I would look strongly at scrapping the Publisher web site in favor of something created in a more compatable format.  Dreamweaver, MS FrontPage, and NVU (free) are the most popular desktop web applications.  Many web host providers offer a web-based page creation tool or suite that works well for the novice.  I use Dreamweaver Studio 8 at my day job but I use GoDaddy's "Web Site Tonight" for my inventory web site.  It's quick and easy.  Check it out:

Steve,
I have not ever personally published a website from Publisher however from what I understand about Microsoft toolsets I think it would be best to try and publish from within Publisher itself to your website.

Here is a link which provides the steps which you may find helpful:

Thanks for responding Fred. The Frontpage Extensions are enabled. I have read so much lately everything is running together. I think I read something about these controls not working if you upload via the ftp method. Mean anything to you? Anyway, I appreciate the response. I'm hoping someone has encountered the same issue and can walk me through a fix. Thanks again. Still searching

Steve,
The first thing to check is to ensure that the Frontpage extensions are enabled on the site.  Just login to your account with whatever hosting company you are using and look for Frontpage extensions.... check to ensure they are on.

Most of the time on a new site you need to turn them on as they are not automatically.

Hello,
I am in the process of working on my web page. I built it in MS Publisher and uploaded using ftp. Things are going pretty well but "submit" buttons on the the "Contact us and Referral" forms I made are not working. When the visitor hits the submit button it should sent the infomation to me in an email. I get an error 404. Can anyone help me with this problem? Think it's a frontpage problem but I don't have the technical expertise to fix or understand the lingo fully. If you want to see for yourself you can go to http://www.mtstateinventory.com/ to check it out and see what I'm talking about.
Thanks for any help!no Steve

Note:
this is a Work in Progress so if you have any comments or suggestions before I get too far along it would be appreciated.
