When I was researching this business I spoke to a lot of insurance adjusters. None of them liked videos or even wanted to sit and watch one. They all, however, stated they would sit at a computer and click thru pictures on a cd.
I will shoot a video if thats what the client wants, but in reality a P&C Adjuster or Insurance company wants no part of them, takes up too much valuable time to view them.
HI I offer video to my clients. It is part of my full service package. However, I do not try to do any editing on the video. It is straight from the camera. On a large home, it will take me about 30 to 45 minutes. One client wanted to do a family heritage video with her going over all the items of importance and her describing the items. That took almost 2 hours. Needless to say I will not be offering to do that anytime soon unless I charge extra for it.
Any suggestions as to a simple program that will do the editing without a lot of time input to learn it?
I use Adobe Encore in concert with Adobe Premiere to produce my DVD's. Both programs are neither cheap or easy to learn and I've spent years getting to know them.
As an added service I will videotape , really unless the customer wants full detail or for estate planning, it only takes 10-15 additional minutes and I think it just adds to the overall experience. I would however love to learn more about a menu option on the dvd...do you have any suggestions?
Coming from a video production background I am curious at to whether most of you are doing video footage at the homes or not. It sounds like insurance agents aren't really crazy about the video footage so I am wondering how much value that adds to our services. Maybe using it as an add on option is the best bet, I've not decided for sure yet. For those of you who do shoot video how do you typically deliver it? Just an added DVD with some sort of menu system or what?
