Hi Bill, Just wanted to let you know that you can run the Home Journal Business inventory software on a Mac and we have a growing number of Mac users who are using the product.
The newer Macs include the bootcamp software which lets you run Windows, you just need a copy of Windows XP to install. Apple has provided some great flexibility here so Mac users can have it all :)
Here is the description and link to the Apple support on this topic:
Apple's Boot Camp software, included with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard, lets you install and run Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications on your Intel-based Mac. This article details the system and Windows disc requirements to use Boot Camp. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899
I've used MYOB since 1998. Intuit was threatening to abandon Mac support then (yes, I'm totally Mac), so I went with a more reliable vendor. Turned out to be a VERY flexible app.
On a related issue, I'm thinking of adding Home Inventorying to my services, but again I'm totally Mac. There seems to be a number of Mac Inventory apps - any advice? (HIB looks like a good source for all else - biz set-up plans, credit processing, etc.)
Don't worry, we'll ensure that you know via an email annoucement and news item on this message board. Updates will be available via download from our website.
Fred, Speaking of the Home Inventory Software. How will we know when updates (new revisions) of the software are available and how do we get them? Thanks Erik I was wondering about the financial software...
Hi Kristina, I believe this topic more about what financial software you use to run that aspect of your business. Regarding the Home Inventory Business software, yes... enhancments to the reporting is now in progress.
Thanks for your feedback, this is the best way to improve the product by getting feedback from business owners.
I just tried a couple of other inventory programs and they offered more flexibility in fields you can choose print and setup. I would really like to see this program have the option of choosing if you want to print the appraisal info or not. Most people don't use these and the warrenty info is generally only with appliance. The report, when printed generally looks have done and not presentable to my clients. To much white space on the left side too. Are there any plans to have a new release?
