RE: Type of Insurance

Some agents are not familiar with this type of business so you may tell them that it falls into the category of 'Personal Services' or 'Photgraphy' for purposes of getting business insurance.

I am trying to get insurance for the Home Inventory business but the Insurance company does not know where to place the policy.  Do I get just general liability and/or Bond Insurance?

Thanks Fred, I tend to agree.  I have the clause in my contract and I had two different attorneys review it and both felt I was covered that regard.  I am waiting on a couple of other quotes but think I will stick to the basics at this point, just because of the cost.

Hi Robert,
My opinion is that the E&O insurance is overkill and overpriced as well, general liability insurance and getting bonded are the most common forms of insurance and are reasonably priced.   You can cover yourself in your contract by having a clause that simply states you are providing documentation based on information from the client .... have the client sign the contract prior to starting your services and you should be all set.

Does anyone have "errors & omissions" coverage or do you just have general liability coverage?  My agent is recommended the  E&O coverage as well as general liability, but her quote from Vanguard was $1300 a year for a million on both!!!  Just doesn't seem like that much coverage is needed, I don't see that much liability involved in the service being provided.  Someone pleased correct me if I'm wrong and also share the name of any insurance companies you have worked with. My agent is great but I think she is struggling a bit with finding the right coverage for me and it may be time to try and shop around more.  Thanks in advance........
