Thanks, JD. Appreciate your perspective. The challenge we're facing is that most of our clients are specifically requesting online data storage. With the III's endoresment of Vault 24 (the online storage service that is available for purchase with their free program Know Your Stuff), online storage is becoming popular.
Agree with you regarding the "add-on" service component. Data storage is not something that is included in our service packages, but can be requested as an additional service if desired.
I have not had dealings with the company you mentioned. Personally, I would stay away from "Online" storage of any kind. There are a few inventory companies that advertise "Online storage" of your inventory, but what happens if and when they go out of business? Your data is then lost forever! There are security questions and issues to contend with too. With government agencies being hacked into, how secure is your data? I've been on the internet since 1994 and have seen those kinds of companies come and go. They are rarely around for more then a few years and suddenly disappear.
I offer storage of my client's data as an ad on service. If they contract for storage, in addition to giving the client their data on a CD, I place it into a removable hard drive and onto a second CD. The hard drive is secured in a vault (safe) in my office and the CD is transported to a safe deposit box in a bank. This way if anything happens, the client still has a copy of it.
