RE: Printers & Printing

Hello Trish,
There are a number of people who print the reports in black/white and provide the full photos on a CD.  Some people don't provide any paper at all which would address your concern about using too much paper.

Given that most people are very aware of saving our environment this is becoming very acceptable to just provide your reports on CD.  Since all of the reports can be exported to PDF, just choose your favorite report format, generate the report and click the export icon at the top of the preview window.  You can then copy all the digital reports to a CD or even email them to a client.  I also suggest that you use the Export button on the main toolbar to extract out a copy of the full resolution original images to also put on the CD for a nice package.

The custom report formats are actually based on feedback from business owners who have been using the software for a while.  It is difficult to have no empty space given the content and need to support up to 6 images per item.  If you have any suggestions on the report format feel free to email them to support for consideration in a future software update.

Regarding the page breaking, please see the tip below which was posted on another support topic which should help:

Please keep in mind that the report content is variable with regards to the 'description' and 'notes' text which can sometimes push parts of a report entry to a new page.

Our suggestion to have nicely formatted reports is to use the new 'custom reports' and always add at least one picture for each item.  We also suggest that you consistently use the notes and description fields and try not to let the description get really long.   If you limit those fields to a couple lines each then your reports should format nicely and not have portions of an item entry forced to the next page.

Hi All,

Someone mentioned that they only print their reports in black & white because the customer has the color photo on their CD.  I'm curious if anyone else prints their reports in black & white only.

Also now that I've printed a few reports I'm noticing a couple of things that concern me.  The number one concern I have is all the wasted space I see on the paper!  If I do a custom report and leave out the warranty info column a lot of the right side of the paper is not used, yet if I print out a report by category the left side is blank (short of the titles at the top of the page).  Is there a way to adjust the margins within the program?

My next concern is with the quality of the images printed in my report.  My printer does well with pictures if I use photo paper, but the images on my plain paper reports are really unprofessional looking, so drab and blah.  I'd like to know what printers and scanners people who do this regularly are using.

Oh and last question.  I've noticed that in some cases the images and its information are getting split up on separate pages - is there any way to avoid that?

I apologize for all the questions, but if anyone knows the answers it is you guys!  I've read a lot of the forum questions and posts - you are a very smart bunch!
